R1200GSA an alternative to a traditional tankbag. These are
panniers and a RallyBook. |
|
The 2005 version of my bag has
pockets on each side and nearest the rider. The side pockets are narrow to keep
down the 're-adjust the windshield at full lock'. It may still happen as I
haven't ridden with the new bag. Each pocket has water-resistant zippers that
should be waterproof as long as the sliders are not horizontal. Each pocket
also has an optional exterior flat pocket covered by a flap with reflective
material. |

Here's the bag flipped forward
for fueling. Other optional features are: Zippered compartment on the
bottom to accommodate a tethered rain cover. This may be redundant as I think
the bag is fairly waterproof, but some folks need this. The cover has Velcro on
the top to attach the map pocket. The second zippered compartment is to hold a
back-pack type strap for easy, no hands carrying. The bag attaches to base
using two side-release Fastex style buckles and two strips of Velcro |
 |
Here's the interior of the bag. It's been electrified with a
Powerlet tankbag kit and features two interior zippered pockets in the upper
lid. |
|
It's 10"x12.5" so it'll hold a regular
sheet of paper. It has a water resistant zipper on the bottom on the right long
side. It's attached with velcro and a swivel clip to a D-ring on the front of
the bag. You can increase the water shedding ability by using some AquaSeal or
some equivalent product on the nylon ribbon on the outer edges. |
 |
Here's the base alone. It has one zippered pocket and one
pocket with associated D-Ring for side stand plates. |

An alternate approach to a tankbag. This creation has
panniers with lots of pen loops, a small pocket near the rider and a RallyBook
as the centerpiece. |

K12RS Heres another view of the same bag. This is a
heavily farkled bike. |
